Carter Headed To Eugene In 100 Meters; Qualifies For Quarters In 200

Theyard, Heath, Guidry look to punch ticket to NCAA Nationals on Saturday

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns sprinter Hanoj Carter qualified for next month's NCAA Track and Field Championships in the men's 100-meter dash and moved a step closer to advancing in the 200-meters after the second day of the NCAA Division I East Preliminary on Friday at the UK Track and Field Complex.
 
The final day of competition begins on Saturday with Louisiana's Ricky Theyard, the Sun Belt Conference champion in the men's triple jump, scheduled to compete at 2 p.m. CT. Live results and live video for the three-day meet is available at RaginCajuns.com.
 
Sun Belt Conference high jump champion Dionte Heath and freshman Damon Guidry will compete for Louisiana at 5 p.m., with Carter slated to compete in the quarterfinals of the 200-meter dash at 6:50 p.m.
 
Carter, who finished third overall in his heat, clocked a time of 10.39 seconds in the 100-meters to finish 10th overall and qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, scheduled for June 7-10 in Eugene, Ore.
 
The senior came back nearly an hour later and posted a time of 20.68 seconds in the 200-meter dash - .02 off his personal-best – to finish 15th overall and move on to Saturday's quarterfinal.
