Moore Tabbed A CoSIDA Academic All-American For Program Record Second Time

AUSTIN, Texas – Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns baseball junior Dylan Moore became the first player in program history to earn multiple CoSIDA Academic All-America® Division I Baseball Team honors as he was tabbed to the 2017 squad, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced on Friday.

"It's quite an honor for Dylan to be named an Academic All-American for the second straight year," head coach Tony Robichaux said. "Dylan has always worked to make sure that his athletic talents never undermined his academic mission, and that's not easy to do with the demands that our schedule can present. That is something that is very important to us as a program. I think that awards like this are really important because they don't just focus on athletic ability, but also what you do in the classroom. It's so important because they are called student-athletes for a reason."

Among the 33 members of the 2017 CoSIDA Academic All-America® Division I baseball teams, there are 19 who carry at least a 3.90 G.P.A., with nine student-athletes sporting a perfect 4.0 G.P.A.

Moore was named to the second team after finishing the season with a 4.0 GPA in political science with an emphasis in pre-law. The Hughes Springs, Texas native posted a 2-1 record with 11 saves in 28 appearances striking out 52 batters in 36.1 innings pitched. Moore holds both the school and Sun Belt career save records with 38 saves in three seasons with the Cajuns.
