Â
LAKE CHARLES, La. – Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns baseball head coach Tony Robichaux will be inducted into the McNeese Sports Hall of Fame this September, the McNeese Athletics Department announced earlier this week.
Â
Robichaux coached the Cowboys' baseball team from 1987-94 and compiled the most wins of any coach in school history with 263 victories, an average of 33 wins per year.
Â
During his time at McNeese, Robichaux won its first-ever Southland Conference championship (1988), its first SLC tournament championship (1993), and appeared in two NCAA Regional Tournaments (1988, 1993). In his final season with the Cowboys in 1994, McNeese set a school record with 41 wins in the season. His teams recorded 30 or more wins in seven straight seasons following his first year.
Â
Robichaux has amassed a career record of 1,115-711-2 and ranks 11th in the nation in career victories among active head coaches. Since taking over the helm at Louisiana in 1995, Robichaux has guided the Cajuns to 12 NCAA Regional appearances, four NCAA Super Regional runs and a trip to the College World Series in 2000. His squads have posted 40 wins in a season nine times in his 23 years with the Cajuns including a Sun Belt and program best 58 wins in 2014.
