Ragin' Cajuns To Open Fall Camp On Sunday

LAFAYETTE – Seventh-year head coach Mark Hudspeth gets his first glimpse of his 2017 Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns football team when they report for fall camp on Sunday.

The Ragin' Cajuns will officially report Sunday morning before hitting the field for the first time later in the day at 3:15 p.m. at the Ragin' Cajuns Practice Facility.

Offensively, Louisiana will look to replace its starting quarterback (Anthony Jennings), leading rusher (Elijah McGuire) and top receiver (Al Riles), along with its anchor on the offensive line (Eddie Gordon). Jordan Davis, who earned the starting job at quarterback during spring practice, will look to direct new offensive coordinator Will Hall's offense with Darius Hoggins, Jordan Wright and Trey Ragas the top players looking to replace McGuire.

Receivers Keenan Barnes, Ja'Marcus Bradley and Michael Jacquet along with four starters on the offensive line, highlighted by preseason All-Sun Belt Conference selection Grant Horst, all return for Louisiana.

Defensive linemen Joe Dillon and Taboris Lee, both named to the preseason All-SBC team, returns to help lead a defense that looks to replace its top two tacklers – Tre'maine Lightfoot and Otha Peters – from last season. Tracy Walker and Travis Crawford both return to their respective positions in the secondary for the Ragin' Cajuns with T.J. Posey slated to start at linebacker.

Louisiana will work out daily during the opening week, donning full pads for the first time beginning on Thursday. The Ragin' Cajuns will conduct three scrimmages during fall camp with full scrimmages set for Aug. 12 and Aug. 19. All practices and scrimmages are open to RCAF and Quarterback Club members at the $1,000 level or above.

The Ragin' Cajuns officially open the 2017 season on Sept. 2 against Southeastern Louisiana at Cajun Field. Louisiana will also play host to Sun Belt Conference opponents ULM (Sept. 23), Texas State (Oct. 12), New Mexico State (Nov. 18) and Georgia Southern (Nov. 25).
