8/10/2017 12:19:00 PM | Soccer
LAFAYETTE – This weekend the Louisiana women's soccer team hits the pitch for the first time in front of the Ragin' Cajuns faithful, hosting both the Alumni Game on Friday at 6 p.m. and Mississippi Valley State on Sunday at 6 p.m. in an exhibition game.
          Â
Admission for both games is free of charge, and although the Alumni Game will not be lived streamed, the match against MVSU will have both a live stream and live stats available through Ragincajuns.com.
          Â
It's the first time that the Alumni Game has been held since the beginning of the 2012 season, and Louisiana will be welcoming back to the pitch 19 recent Ragin' Cajun stars to take on this season's group of Cajuns in an 11-on-11 match-up to help the 2017 squad get tuned up for the upcoming season.Â
          Â
On Sunday, the Cajuns will face MVSU for the first time since Sep. 15, 2013. The Cajuns hold a 5-0-0 record all-time against the Delta Devils, and this will be the first time the two schools have met in an exhibition match leading into the regular season.Â
          Â
Both games will act as a warm-up and a chance for the new Cajuns to get comfortable with playing a live game together before heading on a three-match road trip to start the regular season.
          Â
The next weekend will see Louisiana kick-off their regular season with a trip to Baylor on Aug. 13 at 6 p.m., followed by a visit to Lamar on Aug. 20 at 6 p.m. The road trip concludes on Aug. 25 at 7 p.m. with a visit to McNeese.
          Â
The Cajuns return home to open up the Ragin' Cajuns Soccer/Track Facility by hosting, for the first time in school history an SEC opponent not named LSU, in the form of Ole Miss on Aug. 27 at 6:30 p.m.
          Â
In the interest of public safety and following the National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security (NCS4) Best Practices Guide, the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Athletics Department is implementing a clear bag policy at all venues that host ticketed events effective with the 2017-18 competition season. Information about this new policy can be found by visiting www.RaginCajuns.com/clearbag.
