Louisiana one of 10 regionally-ranked team in crowded men's field; women's race to feature five regionally-ranked teams
LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns cross country team will face its most-rugged field this weekend when it travels to College Station, Texas to compete in the Texas A&M Invitational on Saturday at the Dale Watts Course.
Â
The men's 8,000-meter race begins at 8 a.m., with the women's 6,000-meter competition set for 8:45 a.m. Live results, courtesy of Texas A&M, will be available at RaginCajuns.com. The meet on the Dale Watts Course will be the first of two this season for the Ragin' Cajuns with Texas A&M hosting the NCAA South Central region meet on Nov. 10.
Â
"The Texas A&M invitational will be a huge challenge for our team," head coach Lon Badeaux said. "Most of the (South Central) regionally ranked teams will be there and it will serve as a good measuring stick for our success moving forward."
Â
Louisiana, one of 18 teams competing in the event, will be part of the loaded men's field that features 10 teams ranked in the USTFCCCA South Central Region and a women's field with five.
Â
Joining Louisiana and host Texas A&M in the event include Central Arkansas, Houston, Lamar, LSU, McNeese State, North Texas, Prairie View A&M, Rice, Sam Houston State, Southeastern Louisiana, Southeastern Oklahoma (w), Texas A&M-Kingsville, Texas State, TCU, Texas Wesleyan (m) and UT Arlington.
Â
Stanley Limoh, who has twice this season been named the Sun Belt Conference Male Runner of the Week, leads a talented Ragin' Cajuns men's team that features a solid nucleus in Beau Robinson, Jonathan Kimutai, Logan LaGarde and Dylan Heck.
Â
In their previous meet at the Azalea City Classic, Limoh, Robinson and Kimutai posted a 1-2-3 finish for Louisiana with LaGarde and Heck finishing in the top-11. A pair of freshmen – George Femmer and Andre Bellard – each posted top-20 finishes for the Ragin' Cajuns with Bryce Robinson and Regan Lemaire each finishing in the top-25 and freshman Conner Meche in the top-30.
Â
Courtney Musgrove recorded her second top-3 finish for the Ragin' Cajuns in her last meet at the Azalea City Classic while leading five runners to top-10 finishes. Lindsay LaGarde, Claire Hodges, Alexa Breaux and Courtney Broussard each finished in the top-10 for Louisiana with Hailey Hesterman posting a 14th-place performance.
Â
The freshman tandem of Teresa Brüning and Ally McCulley each posted top-20 finishes in their respective Ragin' Cajuns debut.
