Ragin’ Cajuns Golf Makes Debut Appearance At Louisville Cardinal Classic

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns golf team returns to action on Friday as the squad tees off in its first ever trip to the Louisville Cardinal Challenge hosted at the par-72, 7,192-yard University of Louisville Golf Club.
Play gets underway at 9 a.m. each day with teams starting off of holes one and ten. The Ragin' Cajuns are paired with Jacksonville State and Miami (Ohio) for the first round of the three-day event and will tee off of hole one starting at 9:50 a.m. Live scoring for the event is available on Golfstat.com.
The Field
Louisville plays host to the three-round tournament which makes a return after a two-year hiatus. The Cardinals edged out ULM by one stroke to win the tournament in the fall of 2014.
Louisiana will face familiar opponents in ULM and Southeastern Louisiana at the Louisville Cardinal Classic. DePaul, ETSU, Eastern Kentucky, Eastern Michigan, Jacksonville State, Lamar, Miami (Ohio), Stephen F. Austin and Winthrop round out the 13-team field.
The Lineup
The Cajuns will use a slightly different lineup in their second tournament of the year with freshman Justin Caldwell making his debut with the squad.
Junior Tristan Elston will anchor the lineup coming off of a tie for 13th at the Sam Hall Intercollegiate with an overall score of 2-over par. Elston and Caldwell will be joined by junior Colin Troxler, sophomore Jack Tolson and freshman Bjorn Gudjonsson in the lineup.
Tolson posted his first collegiate round in the 60s the last time out carding a 69 in the final round of the Sam Hall Intercollegiate.
On Deck
After wrapping up play at the Louisville Cardinal Classic, Louisiana will head to the Franklin American Mortgage Intercollegiate from Oct. 8-10 at The Grove Golf Course in College Grove, Tenn. The Ragin' Cajuns wrap up the fall campaign with a trip to the Warrior Princeville Makai Intercollegiate from Oct. 29-31.
