Women's Tennis Hosts Ragin' Cajuns Invitational

LAFAYETTE – This weekend the Ragin' Cajuns women's tennis team will welcome eight schools to Cajun Courts for the 2017 Ragin' Cajuns Invitational, starting on Friday, Sept. 29 and finishing the next day on Saturday, Sept. 30.

South Alabama, Lamar, McNeese, Prairie View A&M, Southeastern Louisiana, Northwestern State, Incarnate Word and Southern Miss., along with Louisiana will make up four doubles flights and eight flights of singles for a busy weekend of tennis.

All four flights of doubles will start at 9 a.m. on Friday with the Cajuns having pairs in each flight. The Contender CrossFit Islander Open doubles champion freshmen Cajuns pair of Floriane Picaut and Dana Radovanovic will play the Southeastern La., pairing of Dalina Dahlmans and Ximena Yanez, to highlight the Cajuns doubles matchups.

Singles will start the singles will start at 10 a.m., once doubles have been wrapped up. Several flights will begin at that time, with the other flights following suit as the matches are wrapped up.

Singles semifinals will be played later in the day on Friday, for all the flights. While doubles semifinals will take place Saturday morning. Times for those will be set once the matchups have been decided.

The finals, for both singles and doubles, will be played on Saturday with the championships and consolation finals taking place throughout the afternoon.

At the Islander Open, Picaut finished as the singles runner up, and she'll start her day in flight one at 11:30 a.m. Picaut will face Lamar's Jasmin Buchta in her first-round match.

Finally returning to the court, after suffering an injury last season, is Cajuns sophomore Marina Rodriguez Garcia. She'll be in the fifth flight and her match against Incarnate Word's Sara Djurdjevic will start at 11:45 a.m.
