LAFAYETTE – After a weekend of clean sheets, the Ragin' Cajuns women's soccer team returns to action this weekend with a pair of matches, starting with a trip to Sam Houston State on Sep. 8 at 6:30 p.m. before returning home to host Nicholls on Sep. 10 at 6 p.m.
          Â
The Cajuns secured their first two wins of the season this past weekend, when they beat Southeastern Louisiana on Sep. 1, 1-0 before taking down Northwestern State on Sep. 3 2-0. They enter the weekend with a 2-3-0 record and they'll look to continue their momentum heading into their final two matches before conference play begins.
          Â
Sophomore Mackenzie Lee recorded her first two career clean sheets over the weekend to help lead the Cajuns to victory. While freshman Una Einarsdottir and seniors Denice Emokpae and Taylor Kennedy each had goals for the Cajuns to help them outscore their opponents 3-0 over the two matches.
          Â
Sam Houston State enters the weekend 2-3-0 after dropping both of their matches last weekend be a combined score of 9-1, but the Cajuns trip to Huntsville, Texas will be the Bearkats first home match since Aug. 27.
          Â
All-time the Cajuns hold a 2-1-0 advantage against the Bearkats, with the last meeting being on Aug. 21, 2015. Although the Cajuns did drop that match 1-0 in Lafayette, the Cajuns are undefeated at Huntsville with two wins in Bearkats country.Â
          Â
Louisiana will look to extend that to three wins this weekend as they make the trip to Huntsville for the first time since Aug. 22, 2014.
          Â
As for Nicholls, they enter this weekend's action sitting at 2-2-0 but they're bringing a two-game winning streak into the weekend having, much like the Cajuns, collected two clean sheets this past weekend.
          Â
The Cajuns hold a 7-3-0 advantage all-time against the Colonels, but they did drop the last meeting between the two schools, 3-1, in Thibodaux on Aug. 26, 2016. At home the Cajuns do hold a 5-1-0 record against Nicholls and this is the first trip the Colonels have made to the Ragin' Cajuns Soccer/Track Complex since a 2-0 win for the Cajuns on Aug. 23, 2015.
          Â
Louisiana's match against Sam Houston State will not be live streamed, but live stats will be provided courtesy of the Sam Houston State athletic department.
