Thursday's game on Jan. 25 against South Alabama is the Cajuns Blackout game while the game on Saturday, Jan. 27 against Troy will be the 2018 women's basketball reunion game.

LAFAYETTE – After splitting on the road in Texas, the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns women's basketball team returns back to the Cajundome for one final home stand in January, when they welcome the South Alabama Jaguars on Thursday, Jan. 25, with that game starting at 5 p.m., and the Troy Trojans on Saturday, Jan. 27 at 4 p.m.

CAJUNS SPLIT THE TEXAS TWO-STEP: On Jan. 18, Louisiana lost a tough game at UT-Arlington, 63-61, on two last second free throws sunk by the Mavericks with three seconds left in the game.  Defensively the Cajuns did a good job of holding the UTA's Rebekah VanDijk, the SBC Preseason Player of the Year, to 10 points and only four rebounds, but in the end, Louisiana was done in at the charity stripe.

The Cajuns bounced back with a big win on Jan. 20 when they went to Texas State and held the second best offensive team in the Sun Belt Conference to 13 points under scoring average beating the Bobcats, 65-58.  Senior Troi Swain led the Cajuns in scoring with 19 points and senior Nekia Jones was right behind her with 18 points.  Sophomore Kimberly Burton led the Cajuns in rebounding with nine and she, along with Swain, were a force on the defense end holding the high scoring Bobcat guards in check.

ARRIVE EARLY, WEAR BLACK, BE LOUD, STAY LATE: Thursday night's game against South Alabama is the 2018 Blackout game.  Fans are encouraged to come decked out in the black Cajuns gear, and T-Shirts are available for purchase at the team store.

IT'S A GOOD OL' FASHIONED REUNION: Saturday's game against Troy is the 2018 women's basketball reunion game.  30 minutes prior to the start of the women's game, which is taking place after the men's game earlier in the day, there will be a presentation honoring the late great Kim Perrot.  Players who have yet to register for the event can go to ragincajuns.com/wbbreunion to fill out the registration form or they can contact Melissa Minton, the Director of Events and Premium Seating, via email at mminton@louisiana.edu or by phone at (337) 851-2906.

JONES GETS HOT AT THE RIGHT MOMENT: Jones has caught fire at the right time in the season.  During the Cajuns first six conference games Jones has led the team in scoring, averaging 12.7 ppg which ranks her 15th in the conference.  Where she's been making her money is from downtown, she's shot 52 percent from beyond the arc over the six games and she ranks first in the conference during the first month of conference play.

SWAIN SCORES AND DEFENDS: Swain was a force defensively for the Cajuns during the weekend in Texas, she faced guarded Texas State's high scoring shooters and added a team high 19 points, 10 of which came in the first quarter, in the Cajuns win against Texas State.

FIELDS PASSES ANOTHER:  Senior Simone Fields, with her third rebound in the game against UTA, passed Alicia McDaniel for eighth all-time on the Cajuns career rebounding list.  She now sits with 620 career rebounds.

WHAT THE JAGUARS BRING: Thursday's game is a matchup between two and three in the SBC standings, with the Jags sitting in second and the Cajuns siting just one game behind in third.  South Alabama is bringing a 13-5 (6-1 SBC) record into the top tier matchup and they won their last game against Appalachian State 54-52 on Jan. 20 in Mobile, Ala.  South Alabama are leading the conference in field goal percentage (43%) and field goal percentage defense (34%) while there 16.8 assists per game ranks them at the top of the conference.

Chyna Ellis, who won this past week's SBC Player of the Week, comes in as the Jaguars leading scorer and rebounder averaging 15.1 points per game along with 8.9 rebounds per game.  She's also leading the conference in blocks averaging 3.2 blocks per game and she became the SBC all-time career leader in blocks this past weekend.

Ellis is shooting 51 percent on the season and that ranks her third in the conference in field goal percentage and her 15.1 points per game puts her sixth in the conference in scoring.  Ellis is joined by Savannah Jones in double-digit scoring averaging 13.9 points per game and she's shooting 47 percent from the field.  Genesis Perrymond (72 assists; 4.0 apg) and Shagoria Kines (70 assists; 4.1 apg) are one and two respectively in team assists.

WHAT THE TROJANS BRING: Troy enters the weekend with a 7-10 (2-4 SBC) record and they'll face off with ULM on Thursday, Jan. 25 before coming down to Lafayette to take on the Cajuns.  Troy won the last game they played, on Monday, Jan. 22, 81-74 against App State.

Offensively the Trojans have been a force all season long, leading the conference in scoring averaging 82.8 points per game which puts them in the top-20 nationally (16th).  Defensively the Trojans rank dead last in the conference as they're giving up 79.9 points per game.

Amber Rivers is leading the Trojans in scoring averaging 14.2 points per game on 51 percent shooting, while Kayla Robinson is joining her teammate with double-digit figures averaging 10.7 points per game.  Sky'Lynn Holmes is leading the Trojans in rebounding, with 7.8 rebounds per game and she's adding 7.6 points per game.

Rivers' 14.1 ppg ranks her eighth in the conference in scoring and her 51 percent shooting puts her fourth in the conference in field goal percentage.  Holmes' 7.9 rebounds per game, places her fourth in the conference, and she's second in the conference in offensive rebounds averaging 3.7 offensive boards per game.
