Woodhouse Sets Record As Cajuns Compete At McNeese, A-State

Glueck finishes as first-day leader in heptathlon; Smith second in pentathlon

LAFAYETTE – Tisay Woodhouse broke her school-record in the women's indoor weight throw with Sven Glueck finishing as the first-day leader in the men's heptathlon to lead the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns track and field team in a pair of meets on Friday.
 
Juliette Smith earned a second-place finish in the women's pentathlon as Louisiana opened the two-day A-State Invitational and Multi on Friday in Jonesboro, Ark. Live results for the final day at the A-State Invitational are available at RaginCajuns.com.
 
Woodhouse, the SBC leader in the event, highlighted four first-place performances for the Ragin' Cajuns as the majority of the squad competed at the McNeese Indoor Invitational.
 
McNEESE INDOOR INVITATIONAL
Woodhouse, who set a school-record earlier this month with a throw of 60 feet, 10 inches at the LSU Purple Tiger, posted a mark of 61-4 to improve on her national status after entering the meet ranked No. 56 in the country in the event.
 
The senior added a fourth-place finish in the shot put for the Ragin' Cajuns, posting a throw of 41-2 ½ to finish ahead of teammate Maliya Crouch (40-11 ½). In the triple jump, Helena Tibbs placed fifth overall after recording a mark of 35-0 ½ on her final attempt.
 
Alexa Johnson (11-5 ¾), Kimberly Rushford (11-5 ¾) and Bailey Broussard (10-10) finished 1-2-3 in the women's pole vault for Louisiana with Lindsey Darby earning a first-place finish in the triple jump (36-11 ¾).
 
Louisiana earned a 1-2-3 finish in the women's 3,000-meters as Courtney Musgrove (10:19.20), Lindsay LaGarde (10:25.35) and Claire Hodges (10:31.74) led the way.  
 
Courtney Broussard placed third overall in the 800-meters (2:23.46) with Hailey Hesterman finishing third overall in the mile run (5:14.17). Hannah Siegmund posted a season-best time of 59.48 to finish second overall in the 400-meters for Louisiana with Amber Campbell posting a time of 1:52.44 to finish fifth overall in the 600.
 
On the men's side, Richard Delphin (57-4 ¼) claimed first-place in the men's weight throw for Louisiana with teammate Dominique Williams finishing fourth (48-3 ½). Williams added a fifth-place finish in the shot put for the Ragin' Cajuns, posting a throw of 46-9 ½ to finish two spots behind teammate Shaquille Singuineau (50-6 ¼).
 
Jacob Chicola (2:05.66), Dylan Heck (2:06.22) and George Femmer (2:06.35) finished 3-4-5 overall in the men's 800-meters for Louisiana with Jonathan Kimutai (4:22.97), Chicola (4:25.11) and Femmer (4:28.41) finishing 4-5-6 in the mile run.
 
In the men's 3,000-meters, Stanley Limoh clocked a time of 8:33.09 to finish fourth overall.
 
A-STATE INVITATIONAL
Smith, who claimed the shot put (41-1) in the five-event competition, scored 3,382 points for Louisiana with teammate Alex Morrow establishing a personal-best (3,296) and finishing fifth overall.
 
Glueck, who claimed first-place finishes in both the high jump (6-7 ½) and long jump (21-10 ¼), scored 2,863 points through the first four events to claim the first-day lead for Louisiana. Chandler Mixon finished the first day of the seven-event competition in third overall with 2,653 points, highlighted by a first-place finish in the 55-meter dash (6.68).
 
Kemondrick Walter posted a time of 21.89 in the men's 200-meters to finish fifth overall for the Ragin' Cajuns.
 
Glueck will look to claim the heptathlon title with the final three events scheduled for Saturday. Jeryl Brazil (55 meters), Tyler Hughes (55-meter hurdles), Kyle Baudoin (men's pole vault) and Damon Guidry (men's high jump) will be among a group of Ragin' Cajuns competing on the final day.
