LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns men's tennis team will wrap up their Virginia trip with a visit to the defending Atlantic-10 Conference Champion VCU Rams, on Tuesday, Feb. 13 with first serve scheduled for 1 p.m. CST.
FOLLOWING THE ACTION: Live stats will be provided by the VCU athletic department with a link to the stats being found on RaginCajuns.com and on the Cajuns men's tennis twitter account, @RaginCajunsMT.
CAJUNS DOUBLES GETS HISTORIC WIN: In the Cajuns previous match against at Old Dominion, the Louisiana pair of senior Vlad Kramarov and sophomore Elio Lago took down the No. 22 nationally ranked duo of Aziz Kijametovic and Francois Musitelli, 6-3. It was only the second loss of the season for the ODU duo and they had already knocked off the No. 15 pair in the nation earlier in the season, making the win a great one for the Cajuns program.
          Â
Despite the Cajuns big win in doubles, they lost the match to Old Dominion, 5-2. Kramarov did lock up his eighth win of the season with Louisiana's lone win in singles, a 1-6, 6-3, 10-6 win, and it improved his 2018 record to 8-2.
WHAT THE RAMS BRING: VCU enters the match against the Cajuns with a 6-0 record, and they haven't played a match on the road yet this season. The Rams finished the 2017 season with a 14-12 record, and they made a run at the A-10 Conference title. They won the title with three straight wins in the conference tournament, taking down Saint Louis (4-3), George Washington (4-3) and Richmond, 4-3, in the title match. The win moved the Rams into the NCAA National Championships where they lost in the first round to No. 12 North Carolina, 4-0.
          Â
Playing at primarily No. 1 and No. 2 singles, Javier Amantegui holds a 4-1 record while to top record for the Rams belongs to Inigo Torre Martin, as he has a 5-0 record playing at No. 4 (3-0) and No. 6 (2-0). Arvid Noren sits at 5-0 as well, tying him with Martin, and Noren has been playing at No. 2 and No. 3.
