HAMMOND, La. – The 20th-ranked Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns baseball team is set to close out its four-game road swing to open the season on Wednesday as the squad heads to Southeastern Louisiana for a 6 p.m. contest at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field.

The Series
 
The Ragin' Cajuns (1-2) hold a 65-50 edge over Southeastern Louisiana in the all-time series. Head coach Tony Robichaux is 21-15 all-time against the Lions including a 6-4 mark in the last 10 games.
 
Louisiana lost both decisions against SLU on the road last year falling 5-4 and 15-3. The Cajuns had won in three or their last four trips to Hammond prior to last season.
 
Scouting Louisiana
 
The Ragin' Cajuns dropped two of three games at No. 14 Texas over the weekend. Louisiana came up short in the first two games losing 3-0 and 5-3 before closing out the series with a 2-1 victory.
 
Junior Gavin Bourgeois led the squad on the weekend hitting .364 (4-for-11) with a double, one RBI and scored twice. Junior Hunter Kasuls had three hits against the Horns with a double and drove in a run.
 
Scouting Southeastern Louisiana
 
The Lions (2-1) took two of three games from SIU Edwardsville last weekend winning 11-2 and 13-6 before falling in the finale 7-4. Southeastern Louisiana is scheduled to face Alcorn State on Tuesday night before the contest with Louisiana.
 
Junior Brennan Breaud led the way for SLU going 6-for-12 with a double and five RBI in the SIUE series. Both Mike Taylor and Kyle Schimpf also drove in five runs over the weekend.
 
Southeastern Louisiana returns All-American Taylor Schwaner for his senior season. Schwaner hit .332 with 16 home runs and 72 RBI a year ago earning Southland Conference Player of the Year honors.

Louisiana opens the 2018 home slate on Feb. 23 at 6:30 p.m. against Wright State in the first of three games at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field at Russo Park. Game two of the series is set for 2 p.m. on Saturday, while the two teams close out the weekend on Sunday at 1 p.m.
