Louisiana is back in the national rankings, coming in at No. 70, in this weeks' Oracle/ITA Collegiate Rankings.

LAFAYETTE – The latest Oracle/ITA Collegiate Men's Tennis Division I National Team Rankings came out on Tuesday, Feb. 27, and for the first time since 2015, the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns men's tennis team are back in the national rankings, coming in ranked nationally at No. 70.

"Our team needs to have the mindset every single time we play and practice that in any given moment, we have to scrap and scrape for everything," said head coach Mark Jeffrey.  "I feel like this ranking is representative of that mindset, and we know that we've got a lot more scrapping and scraping ahead of us to do".

HOW THEY GOT THERE: Besides being off to their best start since their 2014 Sun Belt Conference Championship season, the Cajuns have had some impressive wins so far this season.  They've taken down three defending conference champions, Rice (C-USA) and VCU (Atlantic-10) both on the road and Tennessee Tech (Ohio Valley Conference) at home.

Senior Vlad Kramarov (SBC Men's Tennis Player of the Week, Feb. 14) and sophomore Elio Lago took down the then ranked No. 22 doubles pair from Old Dominion, and they finished this past weekend (Feb. 23-24) almost completing an epic comeback against the No. 65 Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders, to earn the nationally ranking they received.

CAJUNS AMONG THE BEST: The ranking places the Cajuns in the top 20 percent of all programs in the country, and more impressively it puts the Cajuns ranked ahead of 10 Power Five programs.

MORE POWERFUL THEN A P5: When broken down by conference the Cajuns sit ahead of the SEC's LSU, Auburn and Arkansas and they're ahead of the ACC's Georgia Tech and Miami.  But when looking at the Big Ten the Cajuns are ranked above an impressive five schools.  Those schools are Michigan State, Purdue, Northwestern, Nebraska and Wisconsin.

THE SBC NOW HAS TWO: In the Sun Belt Conference, the Cajuns are now only the second ranked team in the conference, sitting behind the No. 45 Georgia State Panthers, who up until the release of these rankings, were the lone SBC school to have received a ranking this season.

UP NEXT FOR THE CAJUNS: Louisiana hits the road this weekend when the head to Corpus Christi, Texas, where the Cajuns enter as the No. 2 seeded team in the H-E-B Invitational.  At the tournament the Cajuns will face off with fellow SBC squads, Troy and South Alabama.  Along with AMCC, who's hosting the tournament, New Mexico State, DePaul and UT-Rio Grande Valley.
