Matt Sullivan enters his 30th year in athletic communications and 13th season with Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns Athletics, where he serves as the primary media contact for football, baseball, and men’s golf, while also overseeing the Athletics Communications Department.

A native of Baton Rouge, Sullivan joined the Louisiana staff in 2013 and quickly helped elevate the department's national profile. In 2016, his efforts contributed to the Ragin’ Cajuns earning the prestigious “Super 11” Award from the Football Writers Association of America—the first such honor ever received by a Louisiana FBS program.

Over the course of his career, Sullivan has promoted programs that have reached the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament, seven bowl games, and numerous NCAA Regionals in baseball, golf, and softball—highlighted by a Women’s College World Series appearance in 2014. In 2024, he successfully led national campaigns for a pair of consensus All-Americans: Kyle DeBarge (baseball), a first-round MLB Draft pick, and Kenneth Almendares (football), who claimed the Lou Groza Award as the nation's top collegiate placekicker.

Prior to arriving in Lafayette, Sullivan spent 13 years at Southeastern Louisiana, where he advanced to Assistant Athletics Director for Media Relations. There, he directed the publicity efforts for 15 Division I programs, served as the radio voice for men’s basketball and baseball, led a full redesign of LionSports.net, and chaired the university’s Athletics Hall of Fame committee. His media campaign for SLU standout and 2012 All-American Robert Alford helped the future NFL cornerback earn national attention ahead of the 2013 Draft.

Sullivan began his career at Southeastern Louisiana as a student assistant under Hall of Famer Larry Hymel before working as a graduate assistant and moving on to Samford University for a two-year stint. At Samford, he helped promote back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances in men’s basketball.

His work has taken him to NCAA championships, SEC and Southland Conference tournaments, the Sugar Bowl, New Orleans Bowl, and the NCAA Final Four. In 2023, he received the 25-Year Award from College Sports Communicators and previously served as Vice President for Sports Information Directors with the Louisiana Sports Writers Association (LSWA).

Sullivan holds a degree in kinesiology from Southeastern Louisiana University with a concentration in sports broadcasting. He and his wife, Stephanie, reside in Lafayette.
