It's the first pre-conference tournament action of the season for the Ragin' Cajuns. The squad was scheduled to appear in the I-10 Cardinals Classic at Incarnate Word in San Antonio last weekend, but the trip was cancelled by Hurricane Harvey.
Three matches into the young season the Louisiana offense is led by Stacey Reilly (Sr. OH, Houston, Texas) who is averaging 2.40 kills per set. Dree'Ana Abram (So., MB, Marshall, Texas), who has thrown up at least three blocks each match, leads the front row defense averaging 1.30 blocks per set.
Libero Sydney Davis has the top digs average on the back row at 3.60 digs per set. Freshman Lexi Hebert is coming off a match-high eight digs at Southern Miss on Wednesday and has dug at a clip of 2.10 per set thus far.
Hebert along with fellow freshmen Avery Breaux and Hali Wisnoskie have seen increased playing time the past two outings. Wisnoskie tallied five kills at Southern Miss, surpassing her output from the Tulane doubleheader.
This weekend marks the Ragin' Cajuns lone home matches until Sun Belt Conference play begins. Following the Sawyer Camillo Memorial Classic, the next home matches are Sept. 29-30 against the Sun Belt's Arkansas schools.

NOTEWORTHY
ABOUT THE TOURNAMENT: The Sawyer Camillo Memorial Volleyball Classic honors Sawyer Camillo, a freshman volleyball player for the Ragin' Cajuns, who passed away on Dec. 22, 2012 at her home in Argyle, Texas. This is the fifth edition of the tournament which became the name of the Ragin' Cajuns annual home tournament in 2013.
CONSISTENT CONTRIBUTION: Chloe Cordell recorded a .200 hitting percentage (6 K, 2 E, 20 TA) on Wednesday at Southern Miss. The senior outside hitter has hit least .200 in two of three outings.
AHEAD OF THE CURVE: With 13 total blocks through the first three matches, sophomore middle blocker Dree'Ana Abram is working on a career-best pace – she has already equaled her production from last season.
A LOCAL FLAIR: Fans who come to Earl K. Long Gym will see two of the Acadiana area's most prolific players in recent memory. Lafayette-based products Avery Breaux (Scott, La./St. Thomas More HS) and Lexi Hebert (Lafayette, La./Teurlings Catholic HS) have worked their way into the Cajuns rotation. Breaux helped lead STM to four state championships and Hebert guided Teurlings Catholic to three straight titles.
PILING UP NUMBERS: Stacey Reilly pushed her career digs total over the 900-mark with 22 during last Friday's doubleheader against Tulane. She currently owns 917 career digs. Reilly is on pace to become the program's first outside hitter to reach 1,000 digs playing an entire career in the rally scoring era.
BALANCED ATTACK: Over the first three outings of the 2017 season the Ragin' Cajuns have spread their offense around. Five different players reached double digits in kills and are all averaging 1.78 kills per set or higher.
SUPER SENIOR: Setter Jessica Bartczyszyn is not your normal senior…she's a graduate student. Bartczyszyn received her bachelor's degree in English last spring. She's now pursuing a career in nursing.
SISTER, SISTER: Outside hitter Stacey Reilly has a special companion to share her senior season with. Her sister, Katie Zimmerman, joined the Ragin' Cajuns coaching staff in June. Katie played collegiately at Wichita State (indoor) and South Carolina (beach). The sister tandem is together as Stacey chases the program's rally scoring era career record for kills and attempts to join Chanelle Gardner as the only individual to play an entire career under the rally format and reach 1,000 kills.
VETERAN ATMOSPHERE: After spending the past two seasons nurturing and developing a young squad, head coach Heather Mazeitis-Fontenot has experience on her side in 2017. The Ragin' Cajuns returned all but one starter and 13 players from last season. The program's current roster features 10 upperclassmen.
UP NEXT
Louisiana heads to Houston for the Rice Invitational scheduled for Friday-Saturday, Sept. 8-9 at Tudor Fieldhouse on the Rice University campus. The Ragin' Cajuns will face Rice on Friday at 10 a.m. and close out the event on Saturday against California at 11 a.m. and Mississippi State at 7:30 p.m.
Next week's trip to Rice starts a string of three straight weekends on the road. Louisiana travels to the Chicago State Invitational Sept. 15-16, which represents a homecoming trip for senior setter Jessica Bartczyszyn, and opens Sun Belt play on the road with the Georgia road trip Sept. 22-23.
