The Cajuns look for their 10th all-time win in the series

LAFAYETTE - The Louisiana soccer team welcomes in-state foe McNeese to the pitch at the Home Bank Soccer and Track Complex at 7 p.m. on Sunday, August 24.

The Ragin' Cajuns look to get back on track after dropping Thursday's match 2-0 at Louisiana Tech. The Cajuns outshot the Bulldogs but were unable to get the ball in the back of the net, unlike the opener when they scored four goals.

Louisiana has owned the series in recent history, winning five of the last seven meetings, including a 2-1 win in Lake Charles to open last season. This season, the Cowgirls are 1-1-1 but have done a good job of getting the ball on net, with half of their shots landing on target.

SET PIECES
- Louisiana plays McNeese at home for the first time since 2017. Last season, the Ragin' Cajuns opened the season with a 2-1 win in Lake Charles, only allowing a goal in the final 30 seconds of the match.
- With the 4-1 win over Lamar, Louisiana had a record-setting performance. The four goals were the second-most in program history in a season opener, and it was the second-largest margin of victory to start the year, behind a 10-0 win over Jackson State in 2003.
- Carson Glenn's penalty kick goal against Lamar was Louisiana's first attempt and make since Karleen Bedre's goal at Arkansas State on Oct. 6, 2022.
- Louisiana's 4-0-3 start last season was the team's longest unbeaten streak to start a season in program history. The seven-game streak also tied for the longest streak overall in program history.
- The Ragin' Cajuns had one of the best defensive seasons in school history in 2024. They allowed just 1.10 goals per game, the fewest in school history, while posting seven shutouts.
- Louisiana is coming off back-to-back seven-win campaigns in 2023 and 2024. It's just the fourth time in program history the Cajuns have won seven or more games in back-to-back seasons (2006-07, 2012-16, 2019-20).
- The Cajuns went 7-5-8 last season for a .550 winning percentage, the best in school history. The five losses were the fewest by the Cajuns, and the eight draws in a season were a program record.

Louisiana hits the road on Thursday when it takes on UTRGV for the second time in school history. Last year, the Cajuns scored three times in the second half of a 4-0 win.
