Glenn, Kurihara, Elhaimer first UL trio to earn All-SBC honors since 2013
NEW ORLEANS – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Women's Soccer team took home three of the Sun Belt Conference's eight specialty awards and placed a program-tying three players on the All-Sun Belt Conference Team, the league office announced on Sunday.
Â
Redshirt freshman Carson Glenn was named the program's first-ever Freshman of the Year, while freshman Miku Kurihara earned the league's inaugural Midfielder of the Year honors and redshirt junior Salma Elhaimer was selected as the Newcomer of the Year recipient. Glenn and Kurihara were both named to the All-Sun Belt First Team, with Elhaimer earning a spot on the Third Team.
Â
Glenn, a forward from Lewisville, Texas, helped spearhead Louisiana's offensive resurgence in 2025. She led the Ragin' Cajuns with 18 points on seven goals and four assists, including 14 points (five goals, four assists) in conference play. Glenn ranked fourth among all Sun Belt players in both goals and points, highlighted by a four-match goal streak and a five-match points streak during league play.
Â
Elhaimer, a transfer from McNeese, made an immediate impact in her debut season with the Ragin' Cajuns. The Tomball, Texas native started 16 of 17 matches and finished third on the team with six goals and 15 points. She tallied 10 points (four goals, two assists) against Sun Belt competition, helping Louisiana's attack produce 22 goals in league play — tied for the most in the conference after scoring just eight in 2024.
Â
Kurihara, from Chigasaki, Japan, earned the inaugural Midfielder of the Year honor after a breakout freshman campaign. The dynamic playmaker led Louisiana in both goals (6) and points (14) in conference play and ranked second overall on the team in points (16). Kurihara tied a single-match school record with eight points, recording the sixth hat trick in program history along with two assists in a dominant win at Troy on Oct. 24.
Â
The Ragin' Cajuns' trio of award winners marked the second time in program history and the since 2013 when Yazmin Montoya (first team), Grace Howell-Harries (first team) and Annika Schmidt (second team) were selected.
Â
The 2025 Sun Belt Women's Soccer Championship begins Monday, Nov. 3, at the Foley Sports Tourism Complex in Foley, Ala.
Â
Louisiana (7-6-4) will open play against top-seeded South Alabama (10-3-3) in a 4:30 p.m. contest. The match will be available on ESPN+ with live results available at CajunStats.Statbroadcast.com.
