Louisiana welcomes Mississippi Christian on Thursday ahead of its November 3 season opener
LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Women's Basketball team gets another opportunity to fine tune its play ahead of the opening week of the regular season with a second and final exhibition of the preseason on Thursday, October 29 at the Cajundome.
The Ragin' Cajuns are welcoming Mississippi Christian to the Cajundome for the exhibition game at 6:00 p.m.
Admission for Thursday's exhibition game – and all UL Women's Basketball games throughout the entire season – is free and open to the public.
No television or radio coverage is available. Live stats will be available at CajunStats.StatBroadcast.com.
UL and MCU meet in an exhibition setting at the Cajundome for the second straight season. Last October, the Ragin' Cajuns used a key 12-0 spurt in the fourth quarter to snap a tie and open up a double-digit lead that held in posting a 78-67 victory.
Thursday's outing marks the final tune-up for the Ragin' Cajuns ahead of the 2026-27 season opener on Tuesday, November 3 at the Cajundome vs. Xavier (La.).
It's another opportunity for the team's core group of returners that's led by Preseason All-SBC selection Imani Daniel and the contingent of newcomers to experience game conditions together.
"I think we got to get better defensively in the first exhibition," Brodhead said. "We talk about the three positions. We need to be on the ball, on the line, and then help. Our help is getting better.
"When Imani Daniel is in there, our help is always going to be pretty good," Brodhead added. "We've got to get everybody else to buy into that as far as just playing together."
UL kicked off preseason play last Thursday (Oct. 22) with a resounding 100-62 win over LSU Alexandria. The Ragin' Cajuns outrebounded the Generals 60-27, collecting 35 offensive rebounds that helped produce 35 second-chance points, and forced 32 turnovers.
Louisiana shot 43.8% from the field, attempting 96 shots to LSUA's 46, and added 30 fast-break points.
"What I liked was the rebounding," Brodhead said. "I thought we did a better job of rebounding, starting in the second quarter. We started kind of picking it up and stuff like that. We've got to keep on pushing."
Mississippi Christian, picked eighth out of 11 teams in the 2026-27 Gulf South Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll, is taking the court for an exhibition for the second time over a three-day span this week. The Choctaws fell 88-40 to Alabama on Tuesday, October 27 in Tuscaloosa.
