Two-day meet begins Friday with competition in javelin, discus
LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns track and field team will welcome 16 schools, including eight Division I programs and reigning NJCAA indoor national champion Barton County Community College, for the annual Louisiana Classics beginning Friday at the Home Bank Soccer and Track Complex.
Action begins Friday at 2:30 p.m. with competition in the javelin and discus. The final day of the meet begins Saturday at 7 a.m. with distance events before field events start at 9:30 a.m. Running events are scheduled to begin at 1:10 p.m., opening with the women's 4x100-meter relay.
Louisiana will be joined by nine in-state schools: Dillard, McNeese, New Orleans, Nicholls, Northwestern State, Southeastern Louisiana, Southern, Tulane and Xavier-New Orleans. Also competing will be athletes from Jackson State and non-Division I programs Macalester (Minn.), Southeastern Oklahoma State, Southern Arkansas, United States Sports University and Wiley College.
The meet is the second of the outdoor season for Louisiana, which opened its 2026 campaign last week at the McNeese Cowboy Relays. The Ragin' Cajuns recorded nine first-place finishes at the event.
